It has begun...
I have been hoping that maybe the US govt isnt as stupid as i have feared.....
apparently hoping in vain.
the first set of tariffs has been levied against China and look what instantly happened to both the US$ and the stock market.....
the first shot has been fired.
batten down the hatches, it may get rough.
Does the US govt not realize that by "making american goods more competitive" by increasing the cost of chinese goods, either thru the use of tariffs or by forcing of the yuan to increase against the US$, that ultimately all they do is increase the cost of most things that ppl buy???
it certainly does not make american goods any cheaper for us american consumers to buy. if an american company makes something for $1 and a chinese company makes it for 50 cents, which thing would you rather buy? now multiply that increased cost times the hundreds of things that we buy that say "made in china"...........................
it just makes everything more expensive to the everyday person.
it might help a few american companies stay in business longer (without forcing them find ways to cut costs), and it might keep a few more ppl employed, but ultimately it will cost a lot of ppl a lot more.
the stock market knows. the currency markets know.
this is not a good path for the US govt to start down.
